By Mieke Ridderhof

Mieke and EesySoft co-founder Michel Visser kick off every new year with a visit to the Durham Blackboard User Conference (#durbbu) - here are thier post-conference thoughts:

What is the Durbbu conference?

Durbbu - The Durham Blackboard User Conference - is the largest and friendliest Blackboard User Conference in the world. Delegates will share their experience of using Blackboard Learn from the perspectives of the learner, the lecturer and those who support it. It is hosted by the University of Durham.

Who was there?

Yesterday was the last day of the event and each and every time we come back here we are delighted to see and speak to so many attendees from the UK and other European countries, including a lot of our own EesySoft customers who share their ideas, executed projects and their outcomes, future plans and success stories on a wide variety of subjects all around the VLE/LMS, Blackboard.

Best presentations at Durbbu

This year Michel and I attended the event and were sitting in on a number of sessions, from keynotes where playfulness in a professional and education setting was explained by the keynote Rosie Jones from Open University, to the keynotes by Kathy Vieria and Tim Tomlinson from Blackboard- I really liked the little voting cards!- to sessions on Blackboard Ally and sessions by individual universities who were all equally interesting.

Additionally, I also presented together with Anna Hollyoak Helleberg from Aarhus University on how universities all around the world leverage our solutions to increase adoption, promote deeper usage of tools and features and optimizing the end user support within the VLE/LMS, so thank you to all who joined that and to Anna for co-presenting.

As always it has been a pleasure to attend, thank you Julie Mulvey and Malcolm Murray for hosting this again at Durham university, we look forward to attending again next year!
